Surrender to God
What does it truly mean to surrender your will and desires to God? Discover the transformative journey of fully submitting to God's authority through the compelling stories of Peter and Jesus. We'll explore how Peter's path from self-centeredness to humble obedience, culminating in his ultimate martyrdom, serves as a powerful example of faith and devotion. Additionally, we'll delve into Jesus' unwavering submission to the Father, relying on divine guidance to fulfill His mission on earth. This episode emphasizes the importance of humility, obedience, and the daily practice of aligning our lives with God's will.
Learn how true submission to God, motivated by love and trust, can lead to a more fulfilling and joyful life. We'll distinguish this voluntary act from the forced subjugation often depicted in popular culture, using Loki's character in "The Avengers" as a stark contrast. By following Jesus, serving Him, and resisting the devil, we not only honor God but also foster spiritual growth and a sense of community rooted in love, justice, and sacrifice. 00:00:01.360 --> 00:00:03.044
Coming up on Renewed Mindsets.
00:00:03.044 --> 00:00:06.573
We like doing things our own way.
00:00:06.573 --> 00:00:11.811
As a people, we do not like to submit to the authority of another.
00:00:11.811 --> 00:00:13.884
But what about to God?
00:00:13.884 --> 00:00:16.987
What does it mean to fully submit to God?
00:00:16.987 --> 00:00:19.905
I'll tell you when you submit.
00:00:19.905 --> 00:00:24.346
Or right now, let's go boys.
00:00:24.346 --> 00:00:30.675
Or right now, let's go boys.
00:00:30.675 --> 00:00:39.469
Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets, the totally awesome podcast for Gen Xers who are ready to bust a move with the hand we were dealt.
00:00:39.488 --> 00:00:44.668
I'm Rick, and if you're feeling discontent with the way life has turned out, well, we're the goonies you're looking for.
00:00:44.668 --> 00:00:54.332
We're here to guide you in purging what you think you know, breaking free from conforming to this world and transforming your mind into the Christ-centered powerhouse.
00:00:54.332 --> 00:00:55.456
It was destined to be.
00:00:55.456 --> 00:00:58.341
Calm that mullet and grab a can of new Coke.
00:00:58.341 --> 00:01:02.106
It's time to get radical, dude, I'm so glad you're here.
00:01:02.106 --> 00:01:12.555
So I was asked what it means to fully submit to God and I've been mulling it over and honestly, that's a tough question to answer completely.
00:01:12.555 --> 00:01:25.894
But for me, I think it means surrendering your will and desires to God and trusting in his plan for your life and seeking His guidance and direction in all things.
00:01:25.894 --> 00:01:31.552
It's about letting go of control and allowing Him to work in and through you.
00:01:31.552 --> 00:01:44.129
I also believe that fully submitting to God involves obeying His commandments and living a life of love and service to others, and constantly seeking to grow in your relationship with Him.
00:01:44.129 --> 00:01:53.406
It's a daily surrender of your whole self to his will, not just in words, but in actions and attitudes as well.
00:01:53.406 --> 00:02:01.614
In my study, I happen to notice, of course, peter famous for trying to do things his own way.
00:02:01.614 --> 00:02:07.652
And that takes me to some scripture from 1 Peter 5, verse 6.
00:02:07.652 --> 00:02:13.953
We should humble ourselves under God's mighty hand so that he may lift us up at the right time.
00:02:13.953 --> 00:02:26.641
So I view submission to God as a form of self-discipline, because it involves denying ourselves the power or the privilege that we desire.
00:02:26.641 --> 00:02:35.585
So, instead of trying to control people or situations, we choose to submit to the authority and the wisdom and the power of the Lord.
00:02:35.585 --> 00:02:41.365
Now, a lot of times this means submitting to other people as if we were submitting to the Lord.
00:02:43.109 --> 00:02:46.055
Peter, let's talk about Peter a little bit.
00:02:46.055 --> 00:02:52.026
It's logical that Peter would encourage young leaders and all of us to submit to God.
00:02:52.026 --> 00:02:57.465
He had to learn this lesson the hard way, through pain and failure.
00:02:57.465 --> 00:03:07.611
Poor Peter, in his early years of following Christ, he often spoke before thinking or tried to assert himself over others in order to gain an advantage.
00:03:07.611 --> 00:03:15.947
He even had his own plans for things, including Jesus' Messiahship how do you like that word, messiahship?
00:03:15.947 --> 00:03:25.675
It took Peter several years to mature to the point where he could willingly let go of his self-centered ways that brought him success as a fisherman.
00:03:25.675 --> 00:03:28.425
So I mean, you can't really blame him.
00:03:28.425 --> 00:03:30.852
He was operating in the way that worked for him.
00:03:30.852 --> 00:03:37.073
But instead he chooses to submit to the leadership of others, especially Jesus.
00:03:38.419 --> 00:03:49.235
Peter learned well from Jesus because Jesus was humble, and his humble example on the cross was probably the biggest teacher to Peter.
00:03:49.235 --> 00:03:55.711
He learned to be humble in order to achieve greatness.
00:03:55.711 --> 00:04:05.707
Yeah, his humble devotion to the Lord was evident in the book of Acts, as he submitted to James and Paul and the civil authorities and others.
00:04:05.707 --> 00:04:16.952
Tradition says he was martyred by crucifixion and he insisted on being crucified upside down because he did not feel worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.
00:04:16.952 --> 00:04:21.370
But Jesus also submitted to God.
00:04:21.370 --> 00:04:27.610
It's not surprising that Peter needed to practice submitting himself to God.
00:04:28.199 --> 00:04:38.288
What truly surprised me is that the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, also lived in submission to God.
00:04:38.288 --> 00:04:46.810
Jesus didn't try to force things to happen, but instead he listened to the Father and relied on the Holy Spirit.
00:04:46.810 --> 00:04:50.889
He consistently surrendered situations to God.
00:04:50.889 --> 00:04:58.853
Now, undoubtedly this was how he lived as a young man in Nazareth when he conducted his business as a carpenter.
00:04:58.853 --> 00:05:01.288
Like what would his mission statement have been?
00:05:01.288 --> 00:05:06.471
It came from the Bible, seemingly in an unforeseen situation.
00:05:07.660 --> 00:05:11.490
Let's read about that in Luke, chapter 4, 17 through 21.
00:05:11.490 --> 00:05:16.086
The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him.
00:05:16.086 --> 00:05:25.024
He unrolled the scroll and found a place where this was written the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring good.
00:05:25.024 --> 00:05:27.665
He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant and sat down.
00:05:27.665 --> 00:05:46.230
All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently.
00:05:46.230 --> 00:05:48.365
Then he began to speak to them.
00:05:48.365 --> 00:05:52.490
The scripture you have just heard has been fulfilled this very day.
00:05:54.581 --> 00:06:00.509
Or how did he know where to go to next in traveling ministry, or who to choose as his twelve apostles?
00:06:00.509 --> 00:06:04.790
He spent extended hours in prayer, listening to the Father.
00:06:04.790 --> 00:06:12.689
We see that in Mark, chapter 1, 35 through 39, and Luke, chapter 6, 12 through 13.
00:06:12.689 --> 00:06:16.574
Why did he do what he did?
00:06:16.574 --> 00:06:24.949
He answered this happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled Luke, chapter 4, 21,.
00:06:24.949 --> 00:06:31.937
John, chapter 17, 12, and 19, 24, and 28.
00:06:31.937 --> 00:06:37.511
And how did Jesus perform the wonderful deeds that he did?
00:06:37.511 --> 00:06:45.288
He preached with charm and brilliance and ministered to the down and out and also to the up and in.
00:06:45.288 --> 00:06:50.011
He healed people abundantly and he called disciples to follow him.
00:06:50.011 --> 00:07:03.002
Jesus explained his actions saying I can do nothing by myself, but only what I see the Father doing John 6, verse 38 and 12, verse 50.
00:07:04.911 --> 00:07:13.865
Even more shocking is to witness the Son of God humbly submitting themselves to both people and circumstances, as he does unto the Father.
00:07:13.865 --> 00:07:32.833
He willingly submitted to individuals ranging from John the Baptist, you know, a man who consumed locusts and wild honey, to Pontius Pilate who, despite his hand wringing and washing, ultimately ordered Jesus to be crucified in order to appease the crowds.
00:07:32.833 --> 00:07:42.101
You know, instead of crafting a new eloquent mission statement, jesus accepted one from a scripture scroll handed to him in the synagogue.
00:07:42.101 --> 00:07:47.141
Now, throughout his life, jesus consistently embraced the challenges before him.
00:07:47.141 --> 00:07:53.737
He allowed events to unfold as he surrendered himself to the will of the Father and listened to his guidance.
00:07:53.737 --> 00:08:09.000
Whether he was facing storms at sea, being approached by those in need, witnessing his disciples abandon him, or experiencing the betrayal of Judas, jesus continuously demonstrated his obedience to his Father's plan.
00:08:10.569 --> 00:08:17.684
We need to turn outcomes over to God and practice submission Abandon outcomes to God.
00:08:17.684 --> 00:08:33.924
Submitting to God in any situation means not trying to manipulate others or control the outcome, but taking responsibility primarily to love God and others and trusting our sovereign Lord.
00:08:33.924 --> 00:08:41.822
Now there's other disciplines that are related to submission to God that can be beneficial in various aspects of our life.
00:08:41.822 --> 00:08:44.648
Submission to God that can be beneficial in various aspects of our life.
00:08:44.648 --> 00:08:53.577
These disciplines can help people cultivate a deeper connection with their faith and develop self-control and patience and seek guidance from others, people who can help them grow spiritually.
00:08:53.577 --> 00:09:00.222
The first one silence, especially for listening to others.
00:09:00.222 --> 00:09:07.480
You know, james taught that by controlling your tongue you can control your entire body and person.
00:09:07.480 --> 00:09:24.337
By practicing silence and listening to others, we can show respect and empathy and understanding towards people around us, and that can make stronger relationships and promote peaceful interactions and a sense of unity, which is so important now.
00:09:24.337 --> 00:09:26.273
We must have unity.
00:09:27.557 --> 00:09:37.821
And then there's waiting, or, you know, refraining from making a decision or advancing on projects or pursuing dreams until you're directed by God.
00:09:37.821 --> 00:09:49.102
You know, by waiting for guidance from God, we can ensure that our actions are aligned with His will and that can lead to greater fulfillment and a better success rate with our endeavors.
00:09:49.102 --> 00:10:01.282
Let's move on to being prepared for potential trials and praying for the strength to trust in Jesus and respond like he would by watching and praying.
00:10:01.282 --> 00:10:09.269
He would by watching and praying, striving to find joy in the Lord during difficult times and learning from them to become more Christ-like.
00:10:09.269 --> 00:10:22.198
Being able to do that, to have that discipline, encourages people to find joy in the Lord during those difficult times and to learn from those experiences and to become more like Jesus.
00:10:22.198 --> 00:10:30.719
By watching and praying we can cultivate resilience and spiritual growth and have a deeper connection to God.
00:10:31.971 --> 00:10:42.357
And the fourth one is something that you've heard a million times in church and you probably don't really know what it means, because the majority of churches out there fail miserably at it.
00:10:42.357 --> 00:10:54.958
The world calls it mentoring placing yourself under the care and guidance of another person to an aid in your relationship with Jesus, but what that is is discipleship.
00:10:54.958 --> 00:11:16.600
By submitting to the guidance of a mentor or a spiritual director or your pastor, you can gain valuable insight and wisdom and get a perspective that can help you navigate life's challenges and to overcome obstacles and to deepen your faith and to learn how to be like Jesus.
00:11:16.600 --> 00:11:38.706
So by practicing disciplines like silence and waiting and watching and praying and seeking spiritual direction or allowing yourself to be discipled to, people can cultivate that deep connection with their faith and develop self-control and patience and seek guidance from others who can help them grow spiritually.
00:11:38.706 --> 00:11:49.763
And those kind of disciplines can make individuals live out their faith in a meaningful and impactful way, and that leads to a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
00:11:51.850 --> 00:11:56.802
It's easier to listen to our sinful nature and follow after it rather than to submit to Christ.
00:11:56.802 --> 00:12:00.779
It's more difficult to submit to God, but it's the right thing to do.
00:12:00.779 --> 00:12:03.600
And as Christians, the Holy Spirit can help us submit to God, but it's the right thing to do.
00:12:03.600 --> 00:12:05.352
And as Christians, the Holy Spirit can help us submit to God.
00:12:05.352 --> 00:12:10.691
Now, since the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity, he is God.
00:12:10.691 --> 00:12:16.543
The Holy Spirit can help us to submit to God by obeying him and following him.
00:12:16.543 --> 00:12:21.977
And with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
00:12:21.977 --> 00:12:32.792
The fruits of the Spirit are love and joy and peace and forbearance, and kindness and goodness and faithfulness and gentleness and self-control.
00:12:32.792 --> 00:12:36.197
That's Galatians 5, 22 and 23.
00:12:36.197 --> 00:12:41.592
Cultivating these fruits of the Spirit can help us better submit to God.
00:12:42.794 --> 00:12:50.801
By submitting ourselves to God, we're letting God know that he is the Lord of our life and that we love Him more than anyone or anything else.
00:12:50.801 --> 00:12:57.462
And we often think we're capable of being on our own to fight our own battles.
00:12:57.462 --> 00:12:59.518
But we need God's help.
00:12:59.518 --> 00:13:03.440
It's not possible to fight our battles without the Lord.
00:13:03.440 --> 00:13:06.158
We need his help and guidance and strength.
00:13:06.158 --> 00:13:10.240
The Lord loves to help us on our battles and give us relief.
00:13:10.240 --> 00:13:14.600
The battle is the Lord's and he can help us no matter what we're facing.
00:13:14.600 --> 00:13:22.583
But submitting to God means that we've got to be willing to give up everything for him and to follow him.
00:13:22.583 --> 00:13:24.173
We've got to be willing to give up everything for him and to follow him.
00:13:24.173 --> 00:13:29.602
Jesus tells us whoever wants to be my disciple must deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow me.
00:13:29.602 --> 00:13:35.990
Luke 9, 23.
00:13:37.011 --> 00:13:41.553
Denying ourselves can be hard on a me-focused world, but with God's help we can do it.
00:13:41.553 --> 00:13:49.320
Submitting ourselves to God doesn't mean that we have one foot in the door of following Jesus and one foot out the door of following ourselves.
00:13:49.320 --> 00:13:54.282
It's vital that we go all in and follow Jesus completely.
00:13:54.282 --> 00:14:02.035
This is the only way that we can submit to God fully Denying ourselves and following him.
00:14:02.035 --> 00:14:04.601
Both must be done to submit to God.
00:14:04.601 --> 00:14:08.320
Without these two aspects, we're not truly submitting.
00:14:08.320 --> 00:14:12.636
Think about all the things that take up your time each day.
00:14:12.636 --> 00:14:15.302
Are they all focused on God?
00:14:15.302 --> 00:14:19.539
Are you doing your daily activities to the glory of God?
00:14:19.539 --> 00:14:23.635
Are you choosing to follow him with all your heart, even when it's hard?
00:14:23.635 --> 00:14:28.059
Most of us would say no to at least one of those questions.
00:14:29.571 --> 00:14:41.124
It's important that we truly submit ourselves to God by giving up our own wants, by choosing to intentionally follow Him and living our lives in the knowledge of Jesus.
00:14:41.124 --> 00:14:50.580
The more we focus on God and follow Him and serve Him, the better we'll be at submitting ourselves to God.
00:14:50.580 --> 00:14:59.035
Focusing on God means we try to see God in every circumstance we're facing, whether that circumstance is sad or joyful.
00:14:59.035 --> 00:15:01.923
We need to focus on God and His great love.
00:15:01.923 --> 00:15:06.080
Hebrews tells us 12, 1, and 2,.
00:15:06.080 --> 00:15:22.383
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance, the race marked out for us fixing our eyes on Jesus.
00:15:22.383 --> 00:15:27.154
Perseverance, the race marked out for us fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
00:15:27.154 --> 00:15:33.613
For the joy set before him, he endured on the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
00:15:33.613 --> 00:15:35.054
Amen.
00:15:35.054 --> 00:15:42.654
Just as the author of Hebrews tells us, we need to fix our eyes on Jesus and focus on him.
00:15:43.798 --> 00:15:47.812
Following Jesus is so crucial to submitting ourselves to God.
00:15:47.812 --> 00:15:52.583
When we follow Jesus, we're truly obeying his teachings.
00:15:52.583 --> 00:15:58.936
Following Jesus means we obey him and put what he said into practice.
00:15:58.936 --> 00:16:02.921
The Lord tells us if you love me, you keep my commands.
00:16:02.921 --> 00:16:05.004
John 14, 15.
00:16:05.004 --> 00:16:10.159
In the same way, serving God is equally important to submitting ourselves to God.
00:16:10.159 --> 00:16:19.663
By serving God in our actions and our choices and our lives, we're demonstrating that Jesus is the true Lord of our lives.
00:16:19.663 --> 00:16:22.712
Acts of service to God att to be done every day.
00:16:22.712 --> 00:16:43.523
Submission to God can't occur once in a while or when we feel like it, but rather submitting ourselves to God needs to be done daily, with every fiber of our being.
00:16:43.523 --> 00:16:48.961
When we submit ourselves to God, we'll live a much more joyful life.
00:16:48.961 --> 00:16:58.904
God is the creator of our souls and we're going to be the most joyful when we're serving him and following him and obeying him.
00:17:00.370 --> 00:17:03.974
A life of hopelessness stems from a life that's not focused on God.
00:17:03.974 --> 00:17:11.368
In addition to a more joyful life, submitting ourselves to God also helps us to resist the devil.
00:17:11.368 --> 00:17:18.425
Resisting the devil means to turn away from the things of this world and resist them.
00:17:18.425 --> 00:17:22.905
The Bible is clear that Satan is the God of this world.
00:17:22.905 --> 00:17:30.326
The Bible is also clear that we can't be friends with both the world and God.
00:17:30.326 --> 00:17:34.885
If we're friends with the world, then we're enemies of God.
00:17:34.885 --> 00:17:41.960
This is why it's vital that we resist the devil and the temptations of the world James 4.4.
00:17:41.960 --> 00:17:50.442
The Bible promises us that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, the devil will flee from us James 4.7.
00:17:50.442 --> 00:17:50.884
Therefore, by submitting ourselves to God and resist the devil, the devil will flee from us.
00:17:50.787 --> 00:17:51.054
James 4, 7.
00:17:51.054 --> 00:18:02.445
Therefore, by submitting ourselves to God, through following him, focusing on him, serving him, obeying him, we can resist the devil and live a life to the glory of God.
00:18:02.445 --> 00:18:07.986
You can choose today to resist the devil and no longer listen to his lies.
00:18:07.986 --> 00:18:14.065
Instead of listening to Satan and the world, choose to listen to God and submit yourself to him.
00:18:14.065 --> 00:18:18.596
God loves you unconditionally and will never, ever change.
00:18:18.596 --> 00:18:23.365
With God, there's only light and love and mercy.
00:18:23.365 --> 00:18:32.468
Submitting ourselves to God will lead to a life of pure devotion to God and a joyful life in worship to the Savior of our souls.
00:18:32.468 --> 00:18:38.207
If you're finding it difficult to submit to God, pray to Him and ask for help.
00:18:38.207 --> 00:18:44.527
The Lord hears every prayer and he answers in accordance with His divine will.
00:18:44.527 --> 00:18:48.494
1 Peter 3.12 and Romans 8.28.
00:18:48.494 --> 00:18:53.186
God can give help through the Holy Spirit's work in your life.
00:18:53.186 --> 00:19:04.469
Submitting ourselves to God can be hard, but when we do submit ourselves to God, we'll live a life to the glory of God.
00:19:04.469 --> 00:19:17.967
In honor of Independence Day in the United States and now Deep Thoughts from King George III.
00:19:17.967 --> 00:19:34.880
Once vigorous measures appear to be the only means left of bringing the Americans to a due submission to the mother country, the colonies will submit.
00:19:42.468 --> 00:19:50.248
The word submission gets a lot of bad press, and it has for a while, thanks to attacks on the biblical idea of submission.
00:19:50.248 --> 00:19:55.267
Christians and non-Christians alike have come to think of submission as oppressive.
00:19:55.267 --> 00:20:05.547
When the topic comes up, the world points to Ephesians 5.22, wives, submit to your own husbands, with a warped sense of that text.
00:20:05.547 --> 00:20:09.737
Or we think of leaders, hebrews 13.
00:20:09.737 --> 00:20:17.846
17 says obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will have to give an account.
00:20:17.846 --> 00:20:34.150
Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you, which is truth, except it gets twisted to where especially non-Christians would say well, your God would have you submitting to Hitler.
00:20:34.150 --> 00:20:37.061
That's not really what that means.
00:20:38.237 --> 00:20:41.165
It reminds me of the movie the Avengers and Loki.
00:20:41.165 --> 00:20:52.548
And he wanted to rule the earth, and there's a point in the movie where he forces a group of people in germany to kneel before him.
00:20:52.548 --> 00:20:55.434
Is not this simpler?
00:20:55.434 --> 00:21:00.207
Is this not your natural state?
00:21:00.207 --> 00:21:08.786
It's the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation.
00:21:08.786 --> 00:21:13.776
The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy.
00:21:13.776 --> 00:21:24.288
In a mad scramble for power, for identity, you were made to be ruled.
00:21:24.288 --> 00:21:28.278
In the end, you will always kneel.
00:21:28.278 --> 00:21:30.665
Okay, you've heard the speech.
00:21:31.654 --> 00:21:39.345
Truly submitting to God and Loki's speech about subjugation in the Avengers are fundamentally different in nature and intent.
00:21:39.345 --> 00:21:46.459
First of all, one's voluntary and the other's forced Submitting to God.
00:21:46.459 --> 00:21:49.606
True submission to God is a voluntary act.
00:21:49.606 --> 00:22:01.023
It's a voluntary act of love and trust and reverence, and it involves willingly giving one's life to God's will, knowing that he has our best interests at heart.
00:22:01.023 --> 00:22:05.085
But Loki was about subjugation.
00:22:05.085 --> 00:22:11.185
It's about enforcing submission through fear and domination.
00:22:11.185 --> 00:22:16.267
It involves stripping people of their freedom and dignity against their will.
00:22:18.916 --> 00:22:25.484
The motivation for submitting to God is rooted in faith and love and a desire for a deeper relationship with God.
00:22:25.484 --> 00:22:31.704
It's about seeking guidance and purpose and living a life aligned with divine principles.
00:22:31.704 --> 00:22:37.201
But Loki's motivation is self-centered.
00:22:37.201 --> 00:22:43.917
It's driven by a desire for power and control and ego.
00:22:43.917 --> 00:22:49.689
It's about elevating himself above others and imposing his will on them.
00:22:49.689 --> 00:22:52.240
It's about elevating himself above others and imposing his will on them.
00:22:52.240 --> 00:23:03.458
Now, submitting to God leads to spiritual growth and inner peace and a sense of purpose, and it fosters community and compassion and moral integrity.
00:23:03.558 --> 00:23:14.746
But Loki's subjugation results in oppression and fear and resentment and it breaks down community and it breeds hatred and leads to suffering.
00:23:14.746 --> 00:23:18.443
Fear is the path to the dark side.
00:23:18.443 --> 00:23:21.463
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate.
00:23:21.463 --> 00:23:24.163
Hate leads to suffering.
00:23:24.163 --> 00:23:28.865
I know Disney owns all of that, but that's Star Wars, not Marvel.
00:23:28.865 --> 00:23:30.580
Let's get back on track, rick.
00:23:30.580 --> 00:23:34.243
And what it all boils down to is the character of the leader.
00:23:34.243 --> 00:23:45.789
God is loving, just and merciful, and his leadership is characterized by sacrifice Jesus' sacrifice and a desire for the well-being of his followers.
00:23:45.789 --> 00:23:57.666
Loki was manipulative and power-hungry and malevolent, and his leadership is characterized by selfishness and a disregard for the well-being of others.
00:23:57.666 --> 00:24:15.165
So really, true submission to God is an act of love and trust leading to positive spiritual and communal outcomes, while Loki's concept of subjugation is about enforced control and leading to negative, oppressive consequences.
00:24:15.165 --> 00:24:20.586
We are never called to submit to someone under those kind of circumstances.
00:24:23.695 --> 00:24:34.327
Hey, you don't know how much I appreciate you listening to this podcast, and if you're listening and you're regular, do you know that I have a second podcast?
00:24:34.327 --> 00:24:36.741
It's called Wisdom for the Day.
00:24:36.741 --> 00:24:46.083
You can find it at wisdomforthedayorg or right here, wherever you're listening to this podcast, just do a search for Wisdom for the Day.
00:24:46.083 --> 00:24:51.205
It's basically a daily podcast from the book of Proverbs.
00:24:51.205 --> 00:24:57.085
I read about two verses a day and do a deep dive on those two verses.
00:24:57.085 --> 00:25:06.478
Now, when you say deep dive on two verses, it's only going to be about five or six minutes, so you don't have to devote your whole life to another podcast.
00:25:06.478 --> 00:25:15.125
As much as I appreciate you listening to this one, I really want you to listen to the next one and I don't want to take up all your time.
00:25:15.125 --> 00:25:17.132
So give me five minutes.
00:25:17.132 --> 00:25:19.479
You can listen to that while you're shaving.
00:25:19.479 --> 00:25:23.604
You can listen to it when you first get in the car and waiting for it to warm up or cool off.
00:25:23.604 --> 00:25:25.959
I guess now, since it's going to be summer, I'd appreciate it.
00:25:25.959 --> 00:25:28.902
Since it's going to be summer, I'd appreciate it.
00:25:28.902 --> 00:25:32.086
If you like it, let somebody else know about it too.
00:25:32.086 --> 00:25:35.128
That's wisdomforthedayorg.
00:25:35.128 --> 00:25:43.815
I love you, see ya?

00:25:49.807 --> 00:25:52.884
Special music by Weston McCurry.
00:25:52.884 --> 00:25:57.703
Well, that's all for this week's show.
00:25:57.703 --> 00:26:01.404
You know the name of this show speaks my hope for you.
00:26:01.404 --> 00:26:05.265
It's taken from the words of Romans, chapter 12, verse 2.
00:26:05.265 --> 00:26:19.648
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing, you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
00:26:22.056 --> 00:26:27.048
If you enjoyed what you heard, do me a favor, please, and tell someone you know about it.
00:26:27.048 --> 00:26:29.319
Send them a link and a text.
00:26:29.319 --> 00:26:34.429
You know you may even need to download it to their phone and show them what a podcast is.
00:26:34.429 --> 00:26:38.444
If it was valuable to you, it will be to them.
