Finding God's Purpose in Everyday Thankfulness

Finding God's Purpose in Everyday Thankfulness

Purpose in Everyday Thankfulness

Send us a Text Message.

Could embracing gratitude transform your spiritual journey? Join us on Renewed Mindsets as we uncover the profound impact of thankfulness in the life of a believer. In this episode, we explore scriptural teachings from 1 Thessalonians, Romans, and Psalms, demonstrating that gratitude isn't just a nicety—it's a divine mandate. Through the compelling story of the ten lepers in Luke 17, we are reminded to seize every opportunity for gratitude, showing how Jesus' presence can turn everyday moments into divine encounters.

Moving to a more practical application, we emphasize the importance of living a life of gratitude daily. Drawing from examples like Psalm 106:1, Daniel 2:23, and Philippians 4:6, we highlight how gratitude was integral to the lives of biblical figures. We invite you to reflect on God's enduring love, provision, forgiveness, and the beauty of His creation. By incorporating gratitude into your daily routine, you align yourself with God's purpose, finding both humility and joy. This episode aims to inspire a lifestyle of "thanksliving" that not only uplifts your spirit but also deepens your connection with God.

00:00:01.723 --> 00:00:03.426
Coming up on Renewed Mindsets.

00:00:03.426 --> 00:00:07.974
You know, as believers we often cry out fix it, jesus.

00:00:07.974 --> 00:00:14.653
But do we cry out with the same passion and intensity as the words thank you, jesus.

00:00:14.653 --> 00:00:23.675
What I'm going to talk about today is a call for all of us to turn our thanksgiving into thanksliving.

00:00:23.675 --> 00:00:26.265
Let's go, boys.

00:00:26.265 --> 00:00:38.984
Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets, where we study the basics of the faith through the lens of our middle-aged experiences.

00:00:38.984 --> 00:00:40.067
I'm Rick.

00:00:40.067 --> 00:00:51.432
Welcome to the show where I help you, gen Xers and Millennials, navigate spiritually through a world that looks nothing like we expected back, when cars were square and mullets were totally awesome.

00:00:51.432 --> 00:00:53.545
I am so glad you're here.

00:00:58.560 --> 00:01:00.808
Scripture commands that we praise Him.

00:01:00.808 --> 00:01:06.811
It commands that the believer needs to praise and give thanks to God.

00:01:06.811 --> 00:01:10.367
Paul said men ought to always give thanks.

00:01:10.367 --> 00:01:12.754
That's what Paul says.

00:01:12.754 --> 00:01:18.911
1 Thessalonians 5 says in everything, give thanks because it is God's will for you.

00:01:18.911 --> 00:01:23.945
Romans 1.21 lets us know that it's actually evil to be unthankful.

00:01:23.945 --> 00:01:28.653
Psalm 118 says O give thanks to the Lord.

00:01:28.653 --> 00:01:29.859
Why?

00:01:29.859 --> 00:01:36.713
For he is good and his mercies endure forever.

00:01:36.733 --> 00:01:39.055
All throughout Scripture we see that thanksgiving was a part of life.

00:01:39.055 --> 00:01:45.126
From the Old Testament to the New Testament we see that with the children of Israel it was actually a law.

00:01:45.126 --> 00:01:49.290
It was an offering in Leviticus 7 to be made unto the Lord.

00:01:49.290 --> 00:01:58.301
We see that with the Philistine battle, when they came back from battle, in 2 Samuel 22, where they offered a thanksgiving of praise unto the Lord.

00:01:58.301 --> 00:02:07.162
We see that in the dedication of the temple with Solomon in 1 Kings, chapter 8, when he made a sacrificial thanksgiving unto the Lord.

00:02:07.162 --> 00:02:13.298
But even more than that, Jesus models thanksgiving the bread of life.

00:02:13.298 --> 00:02:15.903
Every time he broke bread you know what he did?

00:02:15.903 --> 00:02:17.807
He gave thanks.

00:02:17.807 --> 00:02:22.442
I know today we call it grace, but not for Jesus.

00:02:22.442 --> 00:02:23.924
He gave thanks.

00:02:23.924 --> 00:02:26.528
The bread of life was given.

00:02:26.528 --> 00:02:28.891
Thanks for bread, for earthly bread.

00:02:28.891 --> 00:02:30.715
Giving thanks.

00:02:30.715 --> 00:02:44.822
There's something about giving thanks that's supposed to echo in the life of the believer, and I know we find believers having something always to complain about the sin of the children of Israel.

00:02:44.822 --> 00:02:51.812
It wasn't that they were, you know, a large group, it's that they were always complaining.

00:02:51.812 --> 00:02:54.465
They complained about everything.

00:02:55.467 --> 00:02:57.913
The scripture says that we ought to always give thanks.

00:02:57.913 --> 00:03:02.843
Now, before I move on, let me go back to that.

00:03:02.843 --> 00:03:07.813
Romans 121, that says that it's evil to be unthankful.

00:03:07.813 --> 00:03:10.608
I had to do a little study on that myself.

00:03:10.608 --> 00:03:21.811
The scripture reads for although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God, nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

00:03:21.811 --> 00:03:29.388
Now I don't know about you, but I don't need for my heart to be darkened, especially because of not being thankful.

00:03:29.388 --> 00:03:33.711
So we need to always, always give thanks and be thankful.

00:03:33.711 --> 00:03:37.760
Just keep that in mind Now.

00:03:37.781 --> 00:03:42.171
What I'm fixing to talk about now is a story in Luke 17 about the 10 lepers.

00:03:42.171 --> 00:03:46.890
And as you listen, pick out the lesson.

00:03:46.890 --> 00:03:53.929
Pick out what I'm trying to talk about, see if you can catch it before me, because there was 10 lepers, leopards.

00:03:53.929 --> 00:03:57.400
I swear I didn't say leopards, I said lepers.

00:03:57.400 --> 00:04:07.689
There was 10 lepers and they all had a fix-it-Jesus request, but how many of them had a thank-you-Jesus attitude?

00:04:07.689 --> 00:04:14.270
So the village where these leopards are staying is a nameless village.

00:04:14.270 --> 00:04:18.442
Scripture doesn't tell us the name of it Jesus.

00:04:18.442 --> 00:04:21.331
Well, they weren't on Jesus' agenda.

00:04:22.740 --> 00:04:33.521
The Scripture says that Jesus was on his way to Samaria, and on his way to Samaria he's passing through and he goes through Galilee and there's this little nameless village.

00:04:33.521 --> 00:04:39.740
And this would have been just a regular, old ordinary day for these 10 lepers, except Jesus was coming by.

00:04:39.740 --> 00:04:46.331
It was their ordinary day and you know these lepers.

00:04:46.331 --> 00:04:48.353
They were outcasts.

00:04:48.353 --> 00:04:49.274
They were shunned.

00:04:49.274 --> 00:04:52.086
Their fingers were worn.

00:04:52.086 --> 00:04:53.324
They just had nubs.

00:04:53.324 --> 00:04:54.908
They had leprosy.

00:04:54.908 --> 00:04:57.807
It was a disease that had no cure.

00:04:57.807 --> 00:05:05.608
It would have been eating away their flesh, boils and sores, and open sores would have been all over their body.

00:05:05.608 --> 00:05:11.327
They'd have been weak and lame, and society had nothing to do with them.

00:05:11.327 --> 00:05:16.471
We don't know these people, but think about it.

00:05:16.471 --> 00:05:22.533
Who knows the last time they'd seen their children or their family or spouses?

00:05:24.021 --> 00:05:40.372
Because society made sure that they stayed away from everybody else, just all the normal people, though, and everywhere they went they had to yell out unclean, unclean, as if having that disease wasn't bad enough.

00:05:40.372 --> 00:05:44.891
They had to make sure everybody knew that they had the disease.

00:05:44.891 --> 00:05:52.752
Their skin would have been white like snow, so they tried to cover it so people wouldn't see.

00:05:52.752 --> 00:06:02.673
And so here they are, tucked away in this nameless village on a regular day, just a regular ordinary day, and Jesus walks by.

00:06:02.673 --> 00:06:12.814
And Jesus walked by, and the scripture says and the word became flesh and dwelt among us.

00:06:12.814 --> 00:06:20.208
In the message translation, it says the word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood, in the neighborhood of their situation.

00:06:20.208 --> 00:06:21.250
Here comes Jesus.

00:06:21.250 --> 00:06:24.803
In the neighborhood of their leprosy, of their circumstance.

00:06:24.803 --> 00:06:25.148
Here comes Jesus.

00:06:25.148 --> 00:06:43.312
In the neighborhood of their leprosy, of their circumstance, here comes Jesus walking through, and I'm sure in that village there were other people needed healing, there were other people that had circumstances, but these 10 lepers seized the opportunity because Jesus was walking by.

00:06:43.312 --> 00:06:49.571
Just think about that In their neighborhood of their situation, here comes Jesus.

00:06:49.571 --> 00:06:52.548
That's a powerful word right there.

00:06:53.100 --> 00:06:56.670
How many of us just desire for Jesus just to walk by us.

00:06:56.670 --> 00:07:06.391
How many of us would love to have Jesus just pass by our doorstep of the house or the doorstep of this situation that we're in.

00:07:06.391 --> 00:07:09.182
Here's the thing, though.

00:07:09.182 --> 00:07:13.716
The Lord always makes himself available, but it's down to us.

00:07:13.716 --> 00:07:20.271
It's down to our action, our hunger, our desire to seize the opportunity.

00:07:20.271 --> 00:07:26.189
These lepers were probably not the only people that had problems in that village.

00:07:26.189 --> 00:07:38.435
In all likelihood they weren't the only people with issues, but on this particular day they were the only ones who had the drive and the hunger to seize the moment and pursue Jesus.

00:07:38.435 --> 00:07:42.009
You need to pursue Jesus.

00:07:42.009 --> 00:07:47.149
Don't allow Jesus to pass you by without being heard.

00:07:47.149 --> 00:07:58.024
Don't allow Jesus to walk by your village, your neighborhood and not touch you people.

00:07:58.745 --> 00:07:59.648
Let me jump back in.

00:07:59.648 --> 00:08:07.865
Just pay attention of why the lepers couldn't afford to let jesus just walk by and not be seen, okay.

00:08:07.865 --> 00:08:15.184
So, as he's walking by, leprosy would have attacked their larynx, their vocal cords.

00:08:15.184 --> 00:08:18.410
So the scripture doesn't say that they shouted.

00:08:18.410 --> 00:08:21.394
They lifted their voice because they couldn't scream.

00:08:21.394 --> 00:08:25.923
And here goes Jesus, as they see him at a distance.

00:08:27.829 --> 00:08:28.932
They heard about Jesus.

00:08:28.932 --> 00:08:35.552
I'm sure they heard about Jesus because they wouldn't have known to speak to him, had they not.

00:08:35.552 --> 00:08:44.134
This is the Jesus that, when blind eyes were shut and he came by, he gave them sight.

00:08:44.134 --> 00:08:50.232
This is the Jesus that spoke to lame people to stand up and walk.

00:08:50.232 --> 00:08:55.830
This is the same Jesus that speaks to possessed people.

00:08:55.830 --> 00:08:56.731
They were set free.

00:08:56.731 --> 00:08:59.379
All these people heard about Jesus.

00:09:00.123 --> 00:09:06.222
And here he comes, walking by, and these 10 seized that opportunity.

00:09:06.222 --> 00:09:15.683
Jesus Master, have mercy on us and if you would be wise, you would do the same thing right now.

00:09:15.683 --> 00:09:21.014
Jesus Master, have mercy, have mercy.

00:09:21.014 --> 00:09:22.866
You see my situation.

00:09:22.866 --> 00:09:27.947
Come into my neighborhood, jesus, and Jesus didn't even stop.

00:09:27.947 --> 00:09:29.284
He looks over at him.

00:09:29.820 --> 00:09:32.649
The scripture says and tells him go, show yourself to the priest.

00:09:32.649 --> 00:09:36.427
What kind of man is this?

00:09:36.427 --> 00:09:37.705
He didn't even stop.

00:09:37.705 --> 00:09:40.288
He didn't spit on him, he didn't wipe him.

00:09:40.288 --> 00:09:41.326
He didn't tell him to lay down or stand up or go dip in the Jordan.

00:09:41.326 --> 00:09:44.452
He didn't even stop, he didn't spit on them, he didn't wipe them, he didn't tell them to lay down or stand up or go dip in the Jordan.

00:09:44.452 --> 00:09:45.653
He just spoke.

00:09:45.653 --> 00:10:00.389
And the scripture says as they were on their way to the priest, the boils were disappearing, white skin was turning to healthy flesh, the skin that was rotting away began to be restored.

00:10:00.389 --> 00:10:03.953
They're thinking who is this man?

00:10:03.953 --> 00:10:09.261
It's Jesus.

00:10:09.261 --> 00:10:10.323
The miracle work in wonder.

00:10:10.323 --> 00:10:13.490
And here we go, we see him walking away.

00:10:19.347 --> 00:10:21.857
And as they're walking away, one saw it.

00:10:21.857 --> 00:10:26.900
You see, to be a thankful person.

00:10:26.900 --> 00:10:28.464
You've got to be able to see the goodness of the Lord in your life.

00:10:28.464 --> 00:10:30.707
You've got to be able to count your blessing.

00:10:30.707 --> 00:10:42.211
You got to be able to think about all the things that God has done for you, all the things that he's delivered you from the car crash that he stopped.

00:10:42.211 --> 00:10:43.859
All the things that he's delivered you from the car crash that he stopped.

00:10:43.859 --> 00:10:49.721
All the things that you could have gone through, the mindless issues that you were having when you didn't have peace at night.

00:10:49.721 --> 00:11:02.354
But God has given you sleep now, the marriage that he turned around, the illness that he brought you out of, the situation that he got you out of.

00:11:02.354 --> 00:11:08.412
You've got to be able to see it and give thanks.

00:11:10.380 --> 00:11:21.991
Now, this one man saw it, but he not only saw it, as they were walking away, because Jesus told them to walk away Go show yourself to the priest.

00:11:21.991 --> 00:11:26.748
So they're being obedient to Jesus, they weren't wrong.

00:11:26.748 --> 00:11:33.505
But as this man starts looking at himself, he's like whoa, hold on, hold on.

00:11:33.505 --> 00:11:38.455
I know the master said go show myself to the priest.

00:11:38.455 --> 00:11:42.370
But I can't just walk away from what he's done for me.

00:11:42.370 --> 00:11:45.268
I got to go back to find this man.

00:11:45.268 --> 00:11:49.629
I got to go back because he saved my life.

00:11:49.629 --> 00:12:02.910
You see, he covered you from that car accident, that, even though you went through something, god picked you up out of that bed.

00:12:02.910 --> 00:12:11.548
You got to go back and give thanks for all that, thanks for everything that he's done for you.

00:12:11.548 --> 00:12:17.611
So the Bible says you not only have to see it, but you have to say it.

00:12:17.611 --> 00:12:26.749
So he goes back to say what you can imagine, all the things, all the feelings that he was feeling at that moment.

00:12:26.749 --> 00:12:32.970
He didn't know how to reconcile what he was feeling, but I guarantee you two words came out of his mouth.

00:12:32.970 --> 00:12:37.544
Well, three, thank you, lord.

00:12:37.544 --> 00:12:42.207
I don't know how you did it for me, but thank you, jesus.

00:12:42.207 --> 00:13:07.030
I don't know how you delivered, I don't know what you did, I don't know what kind of power you have, but, lord, I thank you, lord, because no one else could have done it like you, lord, no one could have healed me like you, lord, no one could have delivered me like you have, lord.

00:13:07.030 --> 00:13:12.826
So, lord, all I have is a thank you.

00:13:12.826 --> 00:13:13.788
Jesus.

00:13:14.951 --> 00:13:22.663
Jesus, people, you need to look back and truth be told.

00:13:22.663 --> 00:13:37.832
You don't have to look far, because right now, today, you have something to be thankful for, and I know you do, because you got up this morning and you clicked your button and you're listening to this podcast.

00:13:37.832 --> 00:13:41.370
You got dressed.

00:13:41.370 --> 00:13:44.529
Hopefully you got dressed before you got in the car and hit play.

00:13:44.529 --> 00:13:50.048
You did all that, but God is wanting you to know.

00:13:50.048 --> 00:13:53.369
Did you stop for a moment to tell me?

00:13:53.369 --> 00:14:01.429
Thank you, I know you went to sleep last night and you thought you were controlling your own breathing.

00:14:01.429 --> 00:14:07.471
You thought, when the alarm went off, that you opened your eyes on your own.

00:14:07.471 --> 00:14:10.586
It was all your own power and your own strength.

00:14:10.586 --> 00:14:15.211
Yeah, but that breath in your lungs.

00:14:15.211 --> 00:14:16.639
I'm going to tell you something.

00:14:16.639 --> 00:14:18.101
I'm going to tell you who put it there.

00:14:18.101 --> 00:14:22.511
It's Jesus going to tell you something.

00:14:22.511 --> 00:14:25.317
I'm going to tell you who put it there.

00:14:25.317 --> 00:14:31.677
It's Jesus, and he wants to know when was the last time you told him.

00:14:31.677 --> 00:14:32.259
Thank you, lord.

00:14:34.320 --> 00:14:36.601
To live a life that's thankful, you have to choose to see the things that you're thankful for.

00:14:36.601 --> 00:14:41.086
That story could have ended at the close of verse 14.

00:14:41.086 --> 00:14:43.008
Because Jesus healed them.

00:14:43.008 --> 00:14:44.509
They were cleansed.

00:14:44.509 --> 00:14:45.529
That's common.

00:14:45.529 --> 00:14:47.071
That's what Jesus did.

00:14:47.071 --> 00:14:49.833
He went around and he healed people.

00:14:49.833 --> 00:14:53.417
We read that all the time, except for at verse 15.

00:14:56.620 --> 00:15:02.592
Verse 15 is what convicts all of us, because not only did he receive the healing, but he had to do something with what he received.

00:15:02.592 --> 00:15:15.373
And God is asking us to do something with which he's given us the blessings, the goodness, the outpour of his grace and his mercies in our lives.

00:15:15.373 --> 00:15:23.870
He wants us to do something with that, and this is why that one guy, that one leper, shakes everybody up.

00:15:23.870 --> 00:15:28.207
That's listening to me right now, because it points the finger at us.

00:15:28.207 --> 00:15:32.210
This leper came back and gave the Lord thanks.

00:15:32.210 --> 00:15:36.770
He not only saw the healing, but he just had to say it.

00:15:36.770 --> 00:15:41.668
Jesus is looking for hearts that are thankful.

00:15:41.668 --> 00:15:58.028
Jesus is looking for hearts that are thankful, that are remembering to praise him, that are remembering, to give him adoration for all that he has done in and through and throughout their lives.

00:15:58.028 --> 00:16:02.380
But it's not enough to see it, it's not enough to say it.

00:16:02.380 --> 00:16:05.605
We have to show our thanksgiving unto the Lord.

00:16:05.605 --> 00:16:09.461
I'm talking to you right now.

00:16:09.461 --> 00:16:18.123
Have you heard about this Jesus, the one who can not only heal lepers but heal your broken heart?

00:16:18.123 --> 00:16:22.683
This Jesus who can make old things new?

00:16:22.683 --> 00:16:34.687
This Jesus is the one who can turn situations around, even though society and people today will say that it can't be done.

00:16:34.687 --> 00:16:44.826
The lesson that you need to grab from what I've said today is be like that one leper who went back and said thank you.

00:16:44.826 --> 00:16:52.475
That's the one that wasn't just healed, but he was the one that was made whole.

00:16:56.022 --> 00:17:01.456
In a fast-paced world with noise and distractions, it can be hard to find moments of peace and clarity.

00:17:01.456 --> 00:17:13.963
But what if you could start your day with a moment of wisdom and reflection, introducing Wisdom for the Day, a short daily podcast dedicated to sharing godly wisdom from the book of Proverbs?

00:17:29.865 --> 00:17:32.824

00:17:44.704 --> 00:17:49.384
Wisdom for the Day, because a little wisdom goes a long way.

00:17:53.396 --> 00:18:02.106
You know there's verses throughout the whole Bible that point us back to God as our creator and our sustainer, and how we are supposed to be a thankful people.

00:18:02.106 --> 00:18:06.840
The list of things that we could do to praise him for is endless.

00:18:06.840 --> 00:18:16.585
So I've got just a few reasons to give thanks to God all year long, every day, and don't be surprised if more blessings come to your mind as you hear me.

00:18:16.585 --> 00:18:19.961
Firstly, give thanks for his love.

00:18:19.961 --> 00:18:21.846
Praise the Lord.

00:18:21.846 --> 00:18:23.982
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

00:18:23.982 --> 00:18:25.922
His love endures forever.

00:18:25.922 --> 00:18:27.682
That's Psalm 106.1.

00:18:27.682 --> 00:18:34.045
God's love is just as strong for us today as it was in those scriptures in the past.

00:18:34.045 --> 00:18:43.057
He's still our Abba Father who seeks a relationship with us, and his deep and abiding love should lead us to praise him just like those that we read about in the Bible.

00:18:43.057 --> 00:18:45.782
How has God shown his love to you?

00:18:45.782 --> 00:18:47.566
Thank him for that.

00:18:47.566 --> 00:18:51.317
Thank him for his provision.

00:18:51.336 --> 00:18:59.108
You know from the earliest days of the Israelite nation God delivered his people from and led them through all kind of trials and hardships.

00:18:59.108 --> 00:19:15.200
There's so many accounts that tell of people responding with gratitude for how God watched over them in challenging times and their trust grew stronger and led them to pray with expectation going forward.

00:19:15.200 --> 00:19:17.523
I thank you and praise you, god of my ancestors.

00:19:17.523 --> 00:19:19.647
You have given me wisdom and power.

00:19:19.647 --> 00:19:22.778
Daniel 2.23.

00:19:22.778 --> 00:19:27.326
Do not be anxious about anything but prayer and petition with thanksgiving.

00:19:27.326 --> 00:19:28.875
Present your request to God.

00:19:28.875 --> 00:19:30.880
Philippians 4.6.

00:19:30.880 --> 00:19:37.670
It doesn't take much thought for us to come up with our own testimonies of how God has carried us in the hard times.

00:19:37.670 --> 00:19:44.548
He wants us to recognize that he, and no one else, is our provider and to hear our response.

00:19:44.548 --> 00:19:48.243
What situation has God provided for you?

00:19:48.243 --> 00:19:51.288
And to hear our response.

00:19:51.288 --> 00:19:52.815
What situation has God provided for you?

00:19:52.815 --> 00:19:54.497
You'll give thanks for his forgiveness.

00:19:54.517 --> 00:20:03.829
King David and the disciple Peter are just two examples in Scripture of men who were impacted by their sinful choices and later they received forgiveness from God.

00:20:03.829 --> 00:20:13.332
Both of those men were deeply challenged and changed in the process.

00:20:13.332 --> 00:20:16.939
Others join in with them in Scripture to express thanks for such amazing grace.

00:20:16.939 --> 00:20:19.984
Praise the Lord, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

00:20:19.984 --> 00:20:21.428
Who forgives all your sins?

00:20:21.428 --> 00:20:23.749
Psalm 103, 2 and 3.

00:20:23.749 --> 00:20:27.491
I will praise you, lord, although you are angry with me.

00:20:27.491 --> 00:20:30.156
Your anger has turned away and you've comforted me.

00:20:30.156 --> 00:20:31.900
Isaiah 12.1.

00:20:33.143 --> 00:20:45.141
Every believer throughout the ages has been able to hold on to the same promise of receiving God's forgiveness for sin, and we can feel that, that lightning of our spirit, and we can respond with gratitude.

00:20:45.141 --> 00:20:48.909
What sins has God forgiven you for?

00:20:48.909 --> 00:20:52.384
We can be thankful for His Word.

00:20:52.384 --> 00:20:59.188
Even before the Bible that we know existed today, its teachings and truths were shared.

00:20:59.188 --> 00:21:11.119
Sometimes it spread by word of mouth, other times it was in written form, but whatever way it reached the people, the word of God changed minds and hearts and it inspired gratitude in those that heard it.

00:21:11.119 --> 00:21:15.797
At midnight, I will rise and give you thanks for your righteous laws.

00:21:15.797 --> 00:21:18.103
Psalm 119, 62.

00:21:19.507 --> 00:21:23.276
Today, most of us are so blessed to have access to the whole Bible.

00:21:23.276 --> 00:21:28.548
On any given day, we can be impacted by the life-renewing power that's in its pages.

00:21:28.548 --> 00:21:32.664
God is pleased when we use this gift and thank Him for it.

00:21:32.664 --> 00:21:36.321
What Bible verse has made a difference in your faith?

00:21:36.321 --> 00:21:37.306
Walk with God.

00:21:37.306 --> 00:21:40.803
You can thank Him for His creation.

00:21:40.803 --> 00:21:51.419
Give thanks to the Lord of lords, to Him alone, who does great wonders, who, by His understanding, made the heavens, who spread out the earth upon the waters.

00:21:51.419 --> 00:21:54.182
We have the opportunity to appreciate God's handiwork.

00:21:54.182 --> 00:22:14.943
Just look up in the bright blue sky, or sit on the beach, or take a walk in the woods what's your favorite spot in nature to spend time?

00:22:14.943 --> 00:22:17.148
Thank God for it.

00:22:17.148 --> 00:22:21.122
We can thank God for his people.

00:22:22.586 --> 00:22:29.586
The Apostle Paul often expressed gratitude for his fellow Christians, for the encouragement and support that they gave him.

00:22:29.586 --> 00:22:40.326
He recognized that God was ministering to him through those believers and while giving them a chance to know the joy of serving the Lord, the feeling of power of community.

00:22:40.326 --> 00:22:42.068
It brought out praises.

00:22:42.068 --> 00:22:47.346
We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.

00:22:47.346 --> 00:22:50.022
1 Thessalonians 1, 2.

00:22:50.022 --> 00:22:58.749
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his holy people and their faith in the Lord Jesus.

00:22:58.749 --> 00:23:11.140
We ought to all thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your face is growing more and more and the love of all you have for one another is increasing.

00:23:11.140 --> 00:23:13.042
2 Thessalonians 1 and 3.

00:23:14.665 --> 00:23:17.116
The church was part of God's plan for his people.

00:23:17.116 --> 00:23:29.396
Most of us who belong to a local church family can agree that there's comfort and strength to be found in fellowship and we're given the chance to serve each other and help each other grow closer in the Lord.

00:23:29.396 --> 00:23:32.142
We need to thank God.

00:23:32.142 --> 00:23:36.214
How has your church family made a difference in how you live?

00:23:36.214 --> 00:23:41.862
Thank God for his plan for us too.

00:23:41.862 --> 00:23:45.346
But thanks be to God.

00:23:45.346 --> 00:23:47.949
He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

00:23:47.949 --> 00:23:50.432
1 Corinthians 15, 57.

00:23:50.432 --> 00:23:59.805
We give you thanks, lord, god Almighty, the one who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun to reign.

00:23:59.805 --> 00:24:01.961
Revelation 11, 17.

00:24:04.135 --> 00:24:16.762
The Apostle Paul wrote repeatedly that the followers of Christ have been set apart by God, and he taught that believers have the privilege and the responsibility of growing in holiness and that of joining the Lord.

00:24:16.762 --> 00:24:29.248
In his work, paul mentions God's plan for us to share numerous blessings through what Jesus did on the cross, victory over the enemy, restoration with God and eternal kingdom to a joy.

00:24:29.248 --> 00:24:36.969
How has God's plan for you now and in the future encouraged you?

00:24:36.969 --> 00:24:42.585
Just know that God gladly receives our praise.

00:24:42.585 --> 00:24:54.365
Saying thank you to God hardly seems like enough in the middle of all that he's done for us, but whenever we do that, he gladly receives our praises.

00:24:54.365 --> 00:25:03.784
Studying verses about thankfulness will bring us to a place of humility and a place of joy, and that's how God wants us to live every day.

00:25:05.476 --> 00:25:14.700
Psalm 116, 12-14 says what shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?

00:25:14.700 --> 00:25:16.486
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.

00:25:16.486 --> 00:25:20.597
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

00:25:20.597 --> 00:25:24.042
Amen and amen.

00:25:24.042 --> 00:25:28.750
Well, that's all for this week's show.

00:25:28.750 --> 00:25:32.464
You know, the name of this show speaks my hope for you.

00:25:32.464 --> 00:25:36.325
It's taken from the words of Romans, chapter 12, verse 2.

00:25:36.325 --> 00:25:50.705
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing, you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

00:25:53.096 --> 00:25:58.102
