Finding Faith in Life's Storms: Trusting God's Presence

Finding Faith in Life's Storms: Trusting God's Presence

Send us a Text Message.

Have you ever wondered if God truly cares when you're facing life's fiercest storms? Picture this: you're in the middle of a tempest, and it feels as though everything is falling apart. In this episode, we revisit the powerful narrative from Mark, chapter 4, where Jesus calms the storm while resting on the boat, and we explore the profound question, "Does God care when we're in the midst of our storms?" Through heartfelt reflections and personal stories, we demonstrate how a steadfast belief in God's care can act as our anchor, offering strength and resilience during turbulent times.

We delve into the critical importance of nurturing and exercising our faith regularly, much like a muscle, so that it remains robust and ready when we need it most. Drawing from daily prayers, scripture readings, and weekly worship, we show how these practices fortify our faith muscle. Most importantly, we remind you that even when it seems like God is silent or asleep, He is always present with us. Jesus is in the boat with us, prepared to calm the storm in His own time. Listen in and be inspired to hold fast to your faith, trusting that no matter the challenges, you are never alone.

00:00:02.665 --> 00:00:10.371
Wednesday's revelation from Mark, chapter 4, was received so well by y'all.

00:00:10.371 --> 00:00:20.931
I think y'all were finding out that it was just as cool to hear something about those little boats as I found it to be.

00:00:20.931 --> 00:00:30.474
But just as an added, I got a little more to say on those verses with Jesus sleeping on the boat.

00:00:30.474 --> 00:00:36.368
So our bonus for today is on the same verses a little bit shorter.

00:00:36.368 --> 00:00:38.091
I hope you enjoy it.

00:00:38.091 --> 00:00:39.113
I love you.

00:00:39.113 --> 00:00:40.685
Let me know what you think.

00:00:44.439 --> 00:00:48.310
Teacher, do you not care that we're perishing man?

00:00:48.310 --> 00:00:50.262
Isn't that the worst storm of all of them?

00:00:50.262 --> 00:00:53.527
To wonder whether God really cares.

00:00:53.527 --> 00:00:59.162
Because if we know that God cares about us, that we can face any other storm in life.

00:00:59.162 --> 00:01:01.648
But what if God doesn't care?

00:01:01.648 --> 00:01:03.671
Then?

00:01:03.671 --> 00:01:05.594
Is there any storm that we can survive?

00:01:06.361 --> 00:01:11.930
There's a poem written by Stephen Crane that says A man said to the universe Sir, I exist.

00:01:11.930 --> 00:01:19.573
However, replied the universe, the fact has not created in me a sense of obligation.

00:01:19.573 --> 00:01:28.129
The universe does not always seem to deal with us fair hand, and some people just seem to have it worse than others.

00:01:28.129 --> 00:01:35.688
And when we're dealt something challenging, we can wonder why, and we wonder whether God even cares about us.

00:01:35.688 --> 00:01:43.888
I really believe that I've encountered far fewer people who don't believe in God than people who just wonder if God really cares about them.

00:01:43.888 --> 00:01:49.811
But if we doubt that God cares for us, then every storm can seem overwhelming.

00:01:49.811 --> 00:01:55.692
But if we truly believe that God cares for us, then there's no storm that's too great for us to handle.

00:01:55.692 --> 00:02:04.037
We just need to remember it's not the waves, it's the wind.

00:02:04.037 --> 00:02:06.927
It's not the waves, it's the wind.

00:02:06.927 --> 00:02:15.282
When those storms come about, don't blame the people, rebuke the devil.

00:02:15.282 --> 00:02:18.549
We're fighting principalities.

00:02:18.549 --> 00:02:20.712
We're not fighting people.

00:02:20.712 --> 00:02:24.522
It's just about having faith.

00:02:24.522 --> 00:02:28.131
People Living without faith only works well when the seas of life are calm.

00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:33.480
Any of us can live on our own just fine.

00:02:33.480 --> 00:02:43.954
When everything's going smoothly, when you're living in security, exercising your freedom, and you're free of danger, you have no needs, then you could think that you can do anything.

00:02:43.954 --> 00:02:52.371
But when you start needing something, you, when there's a storm going on, where's your free will?

00:02:52.371 --> 00:02:57.889
Then it's lost and it fails you when it comes to the test.

00:02:57.889 --> 00:03:04.951
But faith stands and it seeks Christ.

00:03:04.951 --> 00:03:10.189
When those seas of life are calm, we don't need faith.

00:03:10.189 --> 00:03:11.502
We can live just fine without it.

00:03:11.502 --> 00:03:13.167
But when it gets difficult, when that storm hits, that's when don't need faith.

00:03:13.167 --> 00:03:13.497
We can live just fine without it.

00:03:13.497 --> 00:03:16.592
But when it gets difficult, when that storm hits, that's when you need your faith.

00:03:17.995 --> 00:03:22.628
But here's the thing about faith it's not something that you could just put in your pocket and have handy when you need it.

00:03:22.628 --> 00:03:26.242
It's more like a muscle that needs to be used to stay strong.

00:03:26.242 --> 00:03:35.816
Our daily prayer, our Bible reading, our weekly worships they're all ways to keep our faith muscle strong.

00:03:35.816 --> 00:03:49.811
When the storms of life hit, we can go back to the prayers, the scripture, the worship, everything that we've done when the weather was calm, so that we can find the strength to endure that storm.

00:03:49.811 --> 00:03:55.525
And just remember, even though he sleeps, christ is in the boat.

00:03:55.525 --> 00:04:03.032
The reason that we can find this strength is because Jesus is there.

00:04:04.881 --> 00:04:08.512
Our faith leads us to trust that Christ is with us on that boat.

00:04:08.512 --> 00:04:11.388
He's with us in that storm.

00:04:11.388 --> 00:04:15.890
It may seem like he's sleeping on the job, but he's with us.

00:04:15.890 --> 00:04:34.488
So when distress strikes and God isn't helping you immediately, no matter what, just hold fast, don't waver, but believe that Christ is with you on that boat and in his own good time he's going to help you.

00:04:34.488 --> 00:04:42.367
Just call upon Christ for yourself or for your family, or for your church or for the world, and he's going to answer in his own good time.

00:04:42.367 --> 00:04:47.269
He's with us always and he's not going to allow you to perish in the storm.

00:04:49.300 --> 00:04:53.932
One day, all the storms of life are going to end and the sea is going to be peaceful and calm forever.

00:04:53.932 --> 00:04:59.572
But until then, we can count on storms and life is going to continue to be difficult.

00:04:59.572 --> 00:05:09.348
But through it all, we can hold on to this one amazing truth that Jesus cares so much for us that he's willing to get in that boat with us.

00:05:09.348 --> 00:05:13.689
He's willing to die for us, to perish so that we don't have to.

00:05:13.689 --> 00:05:19.404
His answer to the disciples' question, do you not care?

00:05:19.404 --> 00:05:25.735
Is always yes, I care, and that's all that matters.

00:05:25.735 --> 00:05:29.569
It's what gives us peace in the middle of any storm.

00:05:29.569 --> 00:05:30.322
Praise God.

00:05:30.322 --> 00:05:34.423
In the middle of any storm, praise God.
