00:00:00.360 --> 00:00:07.333
Hey, thanks for listening to the bonus episode from Wednesday's drop on the power of prayer.

00:00:07.333 --> 00:00:09.986
Appreciate you listening.

00:00:09.986 --> 00:00:17.794
You people that listen to the bonus episodes are my core and I love every one of you.

00:00:17.794 --> 00:00:22.931
And if you would listen to the very end, I kind of have a plea to y'all.

00:00:22.931 --> 00:00:25.969
I think y'all appreciate it more than anyone.

00:00:25.969 --> 00:00:28.082
Let's get on to this bonus.

00:00:30.129 --> 00:00:32.715
The Bible reveals many types of prayers.

00:00:32.715 --> 00:00:34.979
So what are the different types?

00:00:34.979 --> 00:00:39.484
There's a variety of words to describe the practice of prayer.

00:00:39.484 --> 00:00:50.252
For example, 1 Timothy 2, verse 1 says so here all four of the main Greek words used for prayer are mentioned in one verse.

00:00:50.252 --> 00:01:03.408
Now, there are many types of prayers in the Bible.

00:01:05.081 --> 00:01:06.147
You got a prayer of faith.

00:01:06.147 --> 00:01:14.852
James 5.15 says and the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up.

00:01:14.852 --> 00:01:22.754
You know, in this context, prayer is offered in faith for someone who's sick, asking God to heal.

00:01:22.754 --> 00:01:28.881
When we pray, we're to believe in the power and goodness of God Mark 9, 23.

00:01:28.881 --> 00:01:33.691
There is power in prayer and there is power to heal in prayer.

00:01:33.691 --> 00:01:39.445
Don't let anybody tell you that that gift of the Spirit is not for this church age.

00:01:39.445 --> 00:01:41.868
It is very much real.

00:01:41.868 --> 00:01:43.350
I've seen it.

00:01:43.350 --> 00:01:46.756
If you want to see it, come see me.

00:01:46.756 --> 00:01:49.186
I'll bring you to my church.

00:01:49.186 --> 00:01:51.004
We'll get you healed.

00:01:51.004 --> 00:01:54.326
Then you got prayers of agreement.

00:01:54.326 --> 00:02:04.168
You know, after Jesus' ascension, the disciples all joined together constantly in prayer In Acts, chapter 1, verse 14.

00:02:05.780 --> 00:02:09.510
And later, after Pentecost, the early church devoted themselves to prayer.

00:02:09.510 --> 00:02:13.110
That's the second chapter of Acts, verse 42.

00:02:13.110 --> 00:02:17.449
The example in Acts encourages us to pray with others.

00:02:17.449 --> 00:02:23.752
Then you got what they called supplication, or it's a prayer of request.

00:02:23.752 --> 00:02:26.920
We're to take all of our requests to God.

00:02:26.920 --> 00:02:38.012
Philippians, chapter 4, verse 6, tells us do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

00:02:38.012 --> 00:02:47.414
Part of winning the spiritual battle is to be praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

00:02:47.414 --> 00:02:50.627
Ephesians 6, verse 18.

00:02:50.627 --> 00:02:54.546
Then you've got prayers of thanksgiving.

00:02:54.546 --> 00:03:00.252
That's also in chapter 4, verse 6 of Philippians.

00:03:00.252 --> 00:03:05.009
With thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

00:03:05.009 --> 00:03:09.670
Many examples of thanksgiving prayers can be found in the Psalms too.

00:03:12.943 --> 00:03:14.468
You've got prayers of worship.

00:03:14.468 --> 00:03:17.967
That's similar to the prayer of thanksgiving.

00:03:17.967 --> 00:03:21.969
The difference is that worship focuses on who God is.

00:03:21.969 --> 00:03:26.560
Thanksgiving focuses on what God has done Right.

00:03:27.421 --> 00:03:30.609
The church leaders in Antioch prayed in this manner with fasting.

00:03:30.609 --> 00:03:43.364
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said You've got prayers of consecration Now.

00:03:43.364 --> 00:03:48.346
Sometimes prayer is a time of setting ourselves apart to follow God's will.

00:03:48.346 --> 00:03:50.187
You've got prayers of consecration.

00:03:50.187 --> 00:03:55.429
Now, sometimes prayer is a time of setting ourselves apart to follow God's will.

00:03:55.429 --> 00:04:09.675
Jesus made such a prayer the night before his crucifixion, where it says and going a little further, he fell on his face and prayed, saying my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.

00:04:09.675 --> 00:04:14.098
Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.

00:04:14.098 --> 00:04:20.153
Matthew 26, 39.

00:04:20.153 --> 00:04:22.982
Then you've got prayers of intercession.

00:04:23.021 --> 00:04:32.055
Many, many times our prayers include requests for others as we intercede for them, and we're told to make intercession for everyone in 1 Timothy 2, verse 1.

00:04:32.055 --> 00:04:49.464
And Jesus serves as our example in this area, because the whole of John 17 is a prayer of Jesus on behalf of his disciples and all other believers.

00:04:49.464 --> 00:04:50.165
Then you got prayer of imprecation.

00:04:50.165 --> 00:04:54.649
Now they're found in the Psalms 7, 55, and 69.

00:04:54.649 --> 00:05:00.355
They're used to invoke God's judgment on the wicked and avenge the righteous.

00:05:00.355 --> 00:05:08.920
Now the psalmist used this kind of appeal to emphasize the holiness of God and the surety of his judgment.

00:05:08.920 --> 00:05:16.026
Jesus teaches us to pray blessing for our enemies, not cursing Matthew 5, 44-48.

00:05:17.754 --> 00:05:25.610
Now the Bible also speaks of praying in the Spirit 1 Corinthians 14, 14-15.

00:05:25.610 --> 00:05:33.088
And prayers when we are unable to think of adequate words Romans 8, 26 through 27.

00:05:33.088 --> 00:05:42.091
And those times the Spirit himself makes intercession for us and people that pray that way pray with a spirit language.

00:05:42.091 --> 00:05:58.406
You've often heard it speaking in tongues, but it's a prayer language and I actually use it and a lot of people that I know do, and what it does is that God knows your heart, he knows what you want to pray for.

00:05:58.406 --> 00:06:27.331
But a lot of times we get sidetracked trying to think of words or we just want to commune with God and be close to him, and you can make an utterance with your mouth and allow the Holy Spirit to take over your tongue, and then you don't have to think about what to pray and you're not opening yourself up to attack from the enemy during those prayers.

00:06:27.331 --> 00:06:42.732
So if you want more information on that, send a message to rick at renewedmindsetscom or go to the website and just send me a message where it says contact.

00:06:42.732 --> 00:06:46.384
Send me a message or you could actually use the new feature.

00:06:46.384 --> 00:06:53.209
Look on your phone, on the app you're on right now, in the show notes it says send a text message.

00:06:53.209 --> 00:06:59.887
You can send it to me in a text and just so you know, I don't have your information so I don't have your phone number or anything when I get that.

00:06:59.887 --> 00:07:03.848
But I will get it and I'll answer you.

00:07:05.980 --> 00:07:13.569
Prayer is a conversation with God and should be made without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5, 16 through 18.

00:07:13.569 --> 00:07:19.952
And as we grow in our love for Jesus Christ, we're going to naturally desire to talk to him.

00:07:19.952 --> 00:07:23.684
So try it, just keep praying.

00:07:23.684 --> 00:07:25.266
Pray on.

00:07:25.266 --> 00:07:31.598
Most of y'all know, if you heard my show two weeks ago, that I have lost my job.

00:07:31.598 --> 00:07:37.079
Not worried, I'm not anxious, I'm not scared.

00:07:37.079 --> 00:07:39.016
God's going to take care of me.

00:07:40.091 --> 00:07:41.437
But right now money's a little tight.

00:07:41.437 --> 00:08:07.699
I'm not coming to you to help you pay my bills, but I am going to implore some of you, since you're the rock Renewed Mindsets fans, that some of my podcast bills are going to be coming due soon, like next week soon.

00:08:07.699 --> 00:08:17.187
If you go to buy one-time gift, it costs a $20 for this show per month.

00:08:17.187 --> 00:08:24.072
That's enough time for me to do all the shows that I do in a month and um, and I'd love you.

00:08:24.072 --> 00:08:45.460
You don't have to do a recurring amount and I would love it if you did, but for right now every little bit helps and I'm spending about $100 a month on software and fees and everything for two podcasts and a lot of the software that I use for editing.

00:08:47.432 --> 00:08:54.496
I'm not trying to make you feel sorry for me, it's just the money's got to come from somewhere and right now I don't have a paycheck coming in.

00:08:54.496 --> 00:09:04.677
So I would love it if you could be, and if you want recognition for it, leave me your name, let me know, and I'll give you a shout out for it.

00:09:04.677 --> 00:09:06.976
If you don't, that's fine too.

00:09:06.976 --> 00:09:12.881
It's not like we're advertising that you're tithing.

00:09:12.881 --> 00:09:18.921
That's something between you and God that you're supposed to be doing anyway.

00:09:18.921 --> 00:09:22.957
But I love you, I hate it.

00:09:22.957 --> 00:09:37.384
I think of pastors now every time they have to get up and preach a sermon on tithing, how you feel, how they feel, and I kind of feel that way right now, but I'm not too proud to say it's tight right now.

00:09:37.384 --> 00:09:39.115
I could use some help.

00:09:39.115 --> 00:09:40.899
I love you.

00:09:40.899 --> 00:09:44.379
Listen for me next week, see ya.
